Selling a Home: Curb Appeal
A buyer's decision to look at the interior of a house often depends on the curb appeal of the home. The curb appeal is the image the house presents when people drive by or arrive for a showing. It is one of the biggest elements of your home that can attract potential buyers.Landscaping is a big part of curb appeal, but the exterior of the house should look well kept overall. If the prospective buyers get the impression that the home is well cared for on the outside, the assumption is that the house is cared for on the inside as well.
It is very difficult for homeowners to see their home with all of its memories the same way a prospective buyer will. Homeowners are accustomed to seeing their home in a certain light, making it difficult for them to see its faults or flaws. A very important part of the selling process is to stop thinking of the house as your home. It is simply a house, which is a commodity that needs to be sold for the highest dollar possible.
Landscaping can be very important and needs to be maintained; however, removing plants can sometimes help the home even more. If trees or shrubs block a house's best features, they can hurt the home more than they help it.
