Travelling from Austin
Like the residents of any city, the citizens of Austin like to travel. Because of its prime location, travelling from Austin could not be easier.
The biggest thing that makes travelling from Austin easy is the location of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The airport, while it may look like it’s out in the middle of nowhere, is really accessible from the city in as little as 10 minutes, traffic permitting. On top of its prime location, the airport is served by a huge number of domestic airlines that offer connecting flights to nearly everywhere.
If flying directly out of Austin doesn’t work, the city is a short connecting flight or a 3 hour drive from the massive airports of both Houston and Dallas. Also, the San Antonio airport is no more than two hours away.
In addition to air service, Amtrak stops in Austin and will whisk passengers away to a variety of locations as well. This option doesn’t work as well coming from Houston or going to Houston because of the requirement that passengers change trains in San Antonio but it can work going to Dallas.
For people who just need to get away for a weekend, San Antonio and the Riverwalk are an hour away. In addition, Sea World is there and offers hours of water-based entertainment.
