    Austin Hospitals

Austin offers up a number of hospitals that are scattered around the city to provide quick and local care for those in need, no matter where they might be. There are specific medical centers that are targeted at those with certain needs or that fall into a particular demographic. For example, the Dell Children's Medical Center is a hospital that specializes in treating children, while the Heart Hospital of Austin administers treatment to those with heart conditions.

    Central Medical Centers

In Central Austin, there are several large hospitals available to those who are experiencing some sort of medical emergency. Brackenridge Hospital, located in downtown Austin, is a regional trauma center that will treat any case, from gunshot wounds to women in labor. Seton Hospital, which is northwest of Brackenridge, is the only hospital in this region of Texas that performs heart transplants. Finally, St. David's, located northeast of Brackenridge, provides a number of services to those who are in medical need.

    Other Austin Medical Centers

There are numerous other medical centers and hospitals located across the city. Seton has a number of branches in Austin, both north and south, and smaller medical centers are distributed to treat less traumatic situations, such as the delivery of babies or minor, scheduled day surgeries.
