Proposed mixed-use development project nearing approval

December 15th, 2010

A proposed 16-acre mixed-use development near Barton Creek Square Mall is nearing approval. The complex, named Tarlton 360 Townhomes, will include 89 townhomes, 140 condos, and 80,000 square feet of retail and office space.

This will be the first project to take advantage of the 2007 revision to the Save Our Springs ordinance that allows redevelopment projects over the Edwards Aquifer. The original ordinance was ratified in 1992 by the Austin City Council and prevented the creation of new developments that could harm the aquifer, but the changes included in the 2007 amendment allow for redevelopment of exisiting property. If the plan for the mixed-use development is approved, construction on waterline projects are scheduled to begin as soon as early January.
