Texas Home Value Down But Better Than National Scene

March 18th, 2009

The value of homes are down overall in Texas and in the United States as the economy continues to be hit by the recession.  It is important though to realize that Texas is doing better though than the  United States as whole.

The median home value for a Texas home is $131,000.  This is down over 5.4 % from last year.  What is important to see in this number is that the national median home price is down nearly 14 %.   Although Texas homes have lost some value,  they are not hurting nearly as much as the national home scene.  Further,  many of these homes that have gone down in value provide a unique opportunity to purchase a great home at a steeply discounted price.
