Growth in Austin housing market

October 26th, 2011

With the economy in the shape it is currently in, it is comforting to know that Austin is pulling through. In September, the Austin housing market showed a 31 percent increase from the same time last year. According to the Austin Board of Realtors, this increase is the direct result of more than 1,600 single family homes being sold in September.

This is the fourth straight month of year-over-year sales volume increases for Austin and the third month in which the volumes have surpassed those of September of last year. Additionally, the total dollar value of home sales has reached $421,648,5923 which is up 33 percent.

The townhouse and condominium markets have also seen some increase in year-over-year sales. The sales have shown a 25 percent increase, although the average condo pricing has remain unchanged from the $162,250. These properties have typically been on the market for 90 days, which is around the same as last year.
