Real Estate Fee in Texas Legislator

April 22nd, 2009

A small fee for real estate transactions is currently being discussed in the Texas legislator.  The fee would cost $10 dollars and would be for the first page of any real estate transaction.

The money raised from the fee would go towards the Housing Trust Fund.  This fund would be set-up to help provide projects and services for communities all across Texas.

Proponents of the fee state that it would allow a lot of improvements to happen for a relatively small fee.  Opponents of the legislation believe that the fee would be the first of many.  They argue that other states started with similar fees, and then moved to more costly fees.
