Barton Hills Real Estate
Located just sound of Town Lake, Barton Hills is an area with a long history and unique character. It is bounded by Barton Creek on the east, MoPac Expressway on the west, Barton Springs Road to the north, and Highway 360 to the south. Named after pioneer William Barton, Barton Hills is a beautiful neighborhood of rolling terrain, winding roads, mature trees, and excellent location.Unlike many newer neighborhoods, Barton Hills is not a subdivision filled with similar, cookie-cutter houses; unique architectural gems and decorative outdoor art are just some of the sights lining neighborhood streets. To the west, the Barton Creek Greenbelt cuts through Barton Hills, forming a 8-mile-long swath complete with biking and hiking trails. Also close by are Zilker Park, a wonderful oasis with sports fields, a dog park, and a disc golf course; Barton Springs Pool, the fourth largest natural spring in Texas; and the Austin Nature and Science Center, a nonprofit facility with natural science exhibits for all age groups.
Though the Barton Hills neighborhood itself may not contain any major commercial centers, it is perfectly placed to take advantage of several popular Austin shopping and eating areas. The so-called "Restaurant Row" on Barton Springs Road, for example is just north of Barton Hills. At the intersection of Lamar Boulevard and Ben White Boulevard, a shopping center nicknamed the "Bubbaretum" allows residents to shop at Central Market, Borders bookstore, and many other retailers. In addition, the attractions of downtown Austin are only a short trip away.
With its decades-old roots, Barton Hills is an established community which is now one of the most popular slices of real estate in Austin. Its convenient location, leisurely atmosphere, and exemplary schools make Barton Hills a great option for any prospective homebuyer.
