Pemberton Heights Real Estate

Pemberton Heights is an upscale neighborhood in central Austin, bounded by MoPac Expressway to the west, Lamar Boulevard to the east, Westover Road to the north, and Windsor Road to the south. Historically well-to-do, today Pemberton Heights is a small but affluent neighborhood which rewards its residents with spacious homes, huge lawns, and great location.

The history of Pemberton Heights can be traced back to farmland owned by Attorney General John Woods Harris in the 19th century. From the 1920s to 1940s, the land was developed by the Austin Land Company into a 12-sectioned neighborhood catering towards a wealthier demographic. These historical roots have translated into benefits visible even today in the expansive homes and lots in Pemberton Heights, unusual for a residential district so close to the urban core of Austin.

Of course, being centrally located, Pemberton Heights is ideally placed to take advantage of everything Austin has to offer. Not only does the neighborhood sit right alongside a major Austin thoroughfare (MoPac), but also to the University of Texas at Austin, the entertainment districts in downtown Austin, and the recreational opportunities at Town Lake. The Lions Municipal Golf Course, a golf course with a 70-year history of hosting such famous persons as Ben Hogan and Ben Crenshaw, is no more a short trip away.

Pemberton Heights real estate is often unfortunately overlooked by homebuyers - a quick tour around the area is enough to convince anyone what a pity this is. Not only is the area well-maintained, lined with beautiful mature trees, and filled with diverse architecture, but it is also home to many unique buildings with historical significance, such as the Caterall Mills House and the Pemberton Castle.
